Nick Cave’s music, much like that of the recently oft-mentioned Jon Spencer, is more than just scrappy melody - it’s like a call to faith, or a call to arms. (Occasionally it’s all the same.) I’m never really sure what to do with these guys. Do I become a Christian, or take off my clothes? Pressing issues.
Listen to “Up Jumped the Devil” from Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ 1988 album Tender Prey. Then go somewhere and buy it.
